Discover more new lizard species in Phu Quoc island Vietnam

Lizard toes Phu quoc island Vietnam is the largest head length about 86 mm. The body is yellowish brown, dark stripe on the back of a 4-5 broad but narrow in the middle of the back, a 7-9 hole before the grave in the male, the tail is dark brown rings alternating white and brown together.


The animal studies Ngo Van Tri, Room Technology and Environmental Management (Institute of Tropical Biology Institute of Science and Technology of Vietnam), Professor Grismer, Department of Biology (University of La Sierra, USA) and graduate student Grismer (department of Biology, Villanova University, USA) recently announced a lizard toes new Phu Quoc, Phu Quoc National Park in the province of Kien Giang.

Standard sample of lizard toes were collected in forested areas along streams painting. Named the new lizard: lizard toes Phu Quoc island- Cyrtodactylus phuquocensis sp. nov. Wu, Grismer & Grismer, 2010. The work has been published in the journal Zootaxa 2604, issued on 7 / 9. This lizard is said to be endemic only in Phu Quoc National Park, South Vietnam.

This is the first 16 lizards, animal researcher Ngo Van Tri and other authors describe the world in Vietnam. The research program is the International Fund for Nature WWF and the Institute of Tropical Biology funded.
